ANDRZEJ KUCHARSKI,

Andrzej Kucharski was born in 1959 in Kluczbork. In 1987 he got his diploma at the Faculty of Ceramics and Glass of the Academy of Art in Wrocław, in the atelier of Professor Ludwik Kiczura. Straight after finishing his studies he established a glass atelier in Kluczbork, one of the first ones in Poland. He took part in many prestigious world exhibitions of artistic glass. His earlier works were sculptures of optical and lead glass, formed in ceramic moulds. Having moved to Swidnica, after 2000, in his atelier, he changed to his own technique artifacts, mainly made of sodium glass. He is experimenting all the time, fascinated with techniques of multilayer glass colouring, construction of glass inner structures, melting of various materials in mass. His works have been permanently exhibited in Museo Municipal de Arte en Vidrio - Alcorcon (in Spain), the Museum in Sosnowiec and the National Museum in Wroclaw. There, with his wife Magdalena, he has been conducting their own art gallery MOYA since spring 2009.

"I am an explorer. I discover, record, fascinate myself and forget. To be a pragmatist, mathematician, artist and alchemist, all these in on, is an ideal state I have been aiming at.

A glass artifact is my mantra. I do not confine in order to shed and I do not stay to avoid getting tired. I visit the glass like other people visit the world"
